4th Annual GoMitchGo Golf Tournament

The GO MITCH GO Foundation was established in honor of our son, Mitchell Whitaker, who began his battle with leukemia (a blood cancer) at the age of 8. Despite Mitchell’s courage and never quit attitude, Mitchell passed away at the age of 10 on September 27, 2007.

• Leukemia and other blood cancers claim more lives every year than all other cancers COMBINED.

• Blood cancers claim more lives of young people under the age of 20 than any other disease.

• Over the last decade, HALF of ALL cancer medications have been derived in whole, or in part, from

Leukemia Lymphoma Society funded research.

• Every 10 minutes, another patient dies.

• Every 4 minutes, a new patient diagnosis is announced.

Mitchell dreamt of playing college baseball and finding a cure for his disease. Tracy and I have set a goal to raise $1 million dollars in his honor through the foundation that bears his name. The GO MITCH GO Foundation works closely with the Leukemia Lymphoma Society to keep Mitchell’s dream alive and honor his last words: “Keep fighting.” Funds raised will go towards research to find a cure for blood cancers and to assist families battling this dreaded disease.

The GoMitchGo Foundation is incorporated as a 501c3 organization. A portion of your entry fee will be counted as a tax deductible donation. We look forward to seeing you on the course for a great day of golf and to honor Mitchell’s life and legacy.

Attention Runners: There will be NO team photo at 6am. The new starting corral locations make it too tough to get in our spots after the picture. Feel free to come by the TnT tent (4th & Broadway) pre and post race for food/drink/hangout/thaw out. Run hard.

Race Weekend timeline & Details

FRIDAY, APRIL 29 & SATURDAY, APRIL 30

WHO:  ALL RUNNERS FOR THE OKC MEMORIAL WHO WERE NOT ABLE TO PICK UP SHIRTS ON THURSDAY!! (Non - runners who have requested shipping will have shirts mailed today)

WHAT:  SHIRT PICKUP @ EXPO

WHEN:  I will be at the expo on  FRIDAY til 430pm  & TIL NOON ON SATURDAY; IF you miss me at the Expo...have no fear...folks at the Team in Training tent will be able to provide your shirt and take your money if you haven't paid yet.

WHERE:  TEAM IN TRAINING BOOTH AT THE RUNNERS EXPO

HOW:  YOU, OR SOMEBODY FROM YOUR RELAY TEAM, COME GRAB YOUR SHIRT AFTER PACKET PICKUP.  WE ALREADY HAVE YOUR ORDER PULLED.  IF YOU HAVEN'T PAID...BRING CASH OR CHECK.  ALL CHECKS PAYABLE TO THE GOMITCHGO FOUNDATION.

Special note:  Austin folks....I will be bringing your shirts back with me post race.

RACE DAY INFORMATION

SUNDAY, MAY 1

START/FINISH LINE COMMAND CENTRAL

TEAM IN TRAINING TENT LOCATED @ 4TH AND BROADWAY PARKING LOT TO THE EAST OF FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH.  GOMITCHGO RUNNERS WILL HAVE ACCESS TO THIS TENT PRE AND POST RACE ALONG WITH FOOD & DRINK.  PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL REGARDING YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS & FOOD/DRINK.....WE HAVE PAID FOR OUR RUNNERS AND TNT HAS PARTNERED WITH US FOR THIS EVENT.  <Hint: Don't let little Johnny starve or de-hydrate....but don't plan on a Walton family picnic on our dime :) >

You can leave pre-race gear at the TnT tent for post-race pickup.  It will be manned...MOST...of the time but you will be leaving your stuff in this location AT YOUR OWN RISK.  TnT is providing you this service as a convenience.  Secure gear check details provided in your race packet.....

GOMITCHGO TEAM PICTURE:  6AM - TEAM IN TRAINING TENT

If you are going to be at the start line for your event, we would love to snap a picture with you!  If you are part of a relay team and your leg is out on the course.....don't worry about it.   Everybody else.....please come....and be there on time....so that we can all get to our corral.

RACE DAY PHOTOGRAPHY - Crown Heights

Stephanie Conrad of CrazyBeautifulPhotos and original "Mitchell's Angel" will be providing GoMitchGo runners with race day photos...on course!!  She will be located at Crown Heights park - 38th & Shartel - 1 block East of the Shartel "hill"!  Look for our GoMitchGo banner!  

Post race - you will be able to thumb through all of her pix and select the digital copies (no prints) that you would like for $3 each.  Pix will be emailed to you so that the world can witness your running feats of wonder in the best looking shirt/singlet ever created.

POST RACE

Feel free to migrate to the Team in Training tent to get your bearings and hook up with family friends!  Re-charge...then head back out to cheer on the GoMitchGo runners coming through the line.

Thank you so much for joining us.  As I say during every single GoMitchGo tournament, I wish for nothing greater than to have NOT met all you wonderful folks under these circumstances.....because Mitch would be rolling through his teen age years with the same grit, sweet spirit, & competitive nature that we all treasured during his time with us.

We are humbled by your willingness to honor our son, raise funds to help find a cure for blood cancers, & raise awareness for our cause.  Every 10 minutes another young person under the age of 20 loses their life to blood cancer.  Every 4 minutes another young person under the age of 20 is diagnosed with a blood cancer.  Let's run.
